friend bought this machine and liked it so well that I got one too. Because this bike is magnetic, there is no chain noise when it is being ridden. There is very little noise at all. I can hear the wheel turning, but just barely. The noise does not interfere with watching TV or even reading while I am using it. This machine does not have a typical bike seat, which makes it more comfortable. Since legs are in front, not down, the seat can be more bench-like. What information do you want about your exercise session? How long you've been at it? How far you have gone? How fast you are riding? How many calories you have burned? All of that is available on this bike. You can set the mode to display the particular piece of information that you want, or you can set it to rotate through all four, displaying each for a few seconds at a time. Since the display is powered by the rider, there are no power cords to hook up. The power doesn't go off right away if you stop peddling, either. You can get up, go get something else to read (or a snack, but it kindof defeats the purpose, I guess), and come back to the same settings instead of having to start your session over. Of course, while you aren't peddling the time doesn't increment, and the speed says zero. You can also adjust the tension on the machine with a knob on the side. It isn't as fancy as the bikes at the gym that change the tension to simulate hills, but it is on the side of the stalk that holds the digital display, so you can adjust it yourself during your session. The seat is stationary in relation to the back bracket of the bike, which makes adjusting it for different leg lengths more of a challenge than if the seat could move back and forth on a track. To change the length of this machine, you pull up on a knob that goes through the front and back brackets, then push or pull one half of the bike. Since the bike is not heavy, this is not difficult, just cumbersome. The adjustment is also not variable enough to allow the 5' person at my house to use it comfortably. She puts a couple of toss pillows behind her back when it is set at the shortest position, then she's fine. My friend, the one who bought the bike first, has built a stand around his so he can pedal while he uses his computer. The next step is to figure out how to use the bike to power the computer... I feel this bike is a good value for the money. It seems sturdy, the pedals are the only exposed moving parts, and it isn't as ugly as some equipment I've had in my family room.
